Today is International Women’s Day! However, this year, the ID5 team aims to shift the focus onto the often-overlooked heroes – the women working tirelessly behind the scenes, driving campaigns forward with their passion and dedication. After all, women’s influence extends far beyond just one field, seniority level, or department.

This year, let’s extend our celebrations to those who work behind the curtains, shaping the future of their industries and inspiring generations to come. Join us in honoring and learning about some of these unsung heroes and ID5 partners this International Women’s Day.

ID5’s Take on Women’s Day

Piyali Dutta, Senior Legal Counsel

Who is your Women’s Day hero or mentor?

My husband, actually. He partakes in the actual process of an egalitarian existence where there are no gender-based stereotypical role and responsibility setting between us. He’s as happy to do the cooking as I am happy cleaning up the barn in our house!

How can women support each other in the workplace?

Empathy, co-operation and looking out for each other.

Valbona Gjini, Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Why is this Women’s Day campaign important to you?

The idea behind this campaign is to spotlight the often-overlooked heroes who work behind the scenes. As a marketer, I have seen many professionals in marketing and communications, often women, who tirelessly work in the background to elevate businesses and amplify their spokespeople’s voices. Behind every polished article, insightful whitepaper, and successful event, there’s a dedicated marketer who pours their heart and soul into bringing these projects to life. Yet, their contributions are not often visible to the public eye. Today, I want to shine a light on these unsung champions and recognize the invaluable role they play in shaping companies and driving success.

Adriana Jones Lima, Senior Marketing and Communications Manager

What would you like people to know most about your work?

Words are powerful. Communications is more than snappy tweets and pitching journalists. Effective communication has the power to build relationships and resolve conflict.

What is one thing you wish people knew about your work or the role it plays in the success of your business?

Marketing is akin to a silent cadre of ninjas. The simplicity masks the depth of professionalism required.

How can women support each other in the workplace?

Help women navigate their different career steps in ad tech, and bring their names into rooms full of opportunities. I wholeheartedly believe in the principle that we rise by raising others.

What steps can allies take to bolster the work of women?

Step 1: Be kind—regardless of gender, race, or any other factor.

Step 2: Provide opportunities, and they will make it work.

Harpreet Kallah, Senior Marketing Manager EMEA, Pubmatic

What steps can allies take to bolster the work of women?

Listening to women with trust, respect, and vulnerability, engaging in more learning, advocating for gender equity, and most importantly, getting comfortable with being uncomfortable!”

Maria Shcheglakova, EMEA Marketing Director, Pubmatic

How can women support each other in the workplace?

Women can be powerful allies at work for other women. Women can support each other by actively collaborating, fostering mentorship, and empowering each other. This includes actively listening and amplifying other women’s voices, offering guidance. We should also be better in celebrating each other’s achievements: women often credit our accomplishments to external factors such as “getting lucky” and “help from others,” while men attribute theirs to innate qualities and skills.

Greta Barsanti, Senior Marketing Manager, Southern Europe, Pubmatic

What changes do you hope to see for women in ad tech in the next 10 years?

As we move forward, our industry will evolve towards greater inclusivity and gender equality, resulting in a higher proportion of women assuming leadership positions. Many companies will embrace DE&I initiatives as part of their standard procedures, nurturing a more supportive atmosphere. Also, placing importance on measures such as mental health support and parental leave will play an important role in fostering a culture that truly values diverse needs.

Kristin Laermann, Marketing Team Lead, YOC AG

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?
The consensus of a society to internationally spotlight the importance of uniting in fighting for equality not only for women but every minority.

What steps can allies take to bolster the work of women?
Proactively support and encourage women to strive for leading roles and functions, especially in professions that are still very male-dominated, like AdTech.

Growing business through partnerships doesn’t end at partner acquisition. Creating lasting partnerships that achieve long-term growth, takes time & strategic planning.

How can women support each other in the workplace?

We must speak up, advocate, partner, and mentor each other. If we don’t empower and support each other, we don’t set the right example for how our allies can support us. Simply put, lead by example.
